Excellence in Excrements: Upcycling of Herbivore Manure into Nanocellulose and Biogas

The demand for animal products has significantly increased over the past decades as a result of growing population and heightened standards living. Increased livestock farming does not only yield desired but also significant quantities wastes, particularly manure whose storage application are being monitored with tightening network regulations. problem is that considered merely substrate biogas production or fertilizer, whereas substantial portion fibers residing in herbivore remained underutilized. Here, we propose management system, which fertilizer precursors high-value materials form (nano)cellulose produced. We show high yields can be achieved elephant remaining enables effortless isolation cellulose nanofibers, leading to reduction environmental impact compared traditional systems based on wood.
